Standing behind fences—confused, crowded, and waiting for a future they never chose.

I’ve looked into their eyes, and what I see is heartbreaking. The lead stallions, once proud protectors of their bands, have their heads hanging low. Mares huddled together, their foals searching for comfort in an unfamiliar world. The wildness that once defined them slowly fading.

These places are meant to be temporary, but they are the end of freedom for many. Seeing them here, knowing where they came from, is a reminder of why I do this—why I document, speak out, and fight for a better way.

No photograph can fully capture the feeling of standing in front of those pens, but I hope my images bring you closer to understanding what’s at stake.
